Lightnin Ridge derived from four musicians with different musical backgrounds, tastes and musical experience. Each contributing their own talents and tastes with each song they perform. With over a hundred combined years of experience between them and different backgrounds Lightnin Ridge built a traditional acoustic bluegrass group and are excited about their new project playing the music they love. Warren Gardner has been playing banjo for many years, from Iowa moved to the west coast and played bluegrass music there but since has moved back to Iowa and has been playing bluegrass in the central Iowa ever since. Darrell Staley has been playing bass and guitar for many years, playing different types of music from rock and roll, country, bluegrass and gospel but came back to his roots to play the upright bass and bluegrass music. Dave Broich has been playing guitar for a number of years playing in his family gospel band in and around central Iowa. Now Dave armed with his new Martin guitar and a love for bluegrass and gospel music has joined Lightnin Ridge. Fiddlin Billy Kearney started out singing harmony to the Everly Brothers with his parents, been playing guitar for thirty five years and old time fiddle since the mid ninety’s and now bringing that sweet high, lonesome fiddle and vocals into the band .
